Modest Monday and a Confession

Firstly, here is my confession to you all: I get all of my Modest Monday outfits off Pinterest. *GASP* Shameful, I know, but the truth. Haha! :)

Also, where I live, it is currently Tuesday. Not Monday. Hopefully some of you live in a place where it is still Monday. ;)

Soooo.. I've decided that this post's topic would be on the use of scarves in an outfit. They're a quick fix to the low-shirt problem. I actually know a lady who carries scarves around with her in her purse to make other girls' shirts more modest. She's so awesome. If she's in church and sees a girl wearing a top that makes you think you should be looking somewhere else, she just goes up to her and says, "Dear, you look really cold. Would you like a scarf?". Surprisingly, a lot of times they'll say yes. I think it's due in part to the fact that this lady has an unbelievably charming Scottish accent. Anyway, she amazes me.

Without further ado, here are your "scarfified" outfits!

Country Sunsets

Well, as you can see, my site is running once more! Note to self: never press ANYTHING on Google+ unless you know what it does. :P

Last night at my place, we had this AMAZING sunset. The rain had just stopped, but the air was still a tad hazy. So of course I had to take pictures! Here are a few! :)

Tech Problems!

Hmm... for some reason all the pictures on my blog disappeared. Going to have to repost them. Sorry!

Happy Belated Modest Monday!

*Facepalm* I was gone all day yesterday, hence Modest Monday was forgotten!  I guess this would make today Modest Tuesday, which doesn't sound half as nice as Modest Monday. Anyway, here are the belated pictures!

I love the print combination in this outfit!

A baby blue blouse, yellow cardigan, and yellow print skirt - FRABJOUS.

The sweater is soooo cute.

Classic. :)

Well that's all for today, folks! Confirmation pictures coming soon!  :)

1.) What brand of computer are you using?

My trusty HP laptop!

2.) If you go outside, take the first star on your right and then go straight on 'til morning, where will you end up?

Most likely lost somewhere in the middle of the woods where I can't call anyone for help because there's no connection. Or possibly Narnia. You never know! ;)

3.) How would you handle a pickpocket?

I'd desperately try to remember some karate move from the P90X fitness videos I attempted to do 4 years back. If that fails, RUN AWAY!

4.) Do you like cowboys-- meaning cowboys from the Old West.

Nah.

5.) Do you know what the "big blue" looks like?

Don't know what that is, but I'm guessing it's big and blue. Maybe? Am I close?

6.) What's you're 'go to' style for your hair?

It depends. I like wearing it down, but I also like a messy bun. Someday I'll attempt to do the frabjous hairstyles my Pinterest boards are filled with, "BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!" Anyone here get the reference I just made?

7.) Have you ever wanted to be a voice for a character in an animated Disney movie?

Yes, but which character? One does not simply choose one Disney character! :D

8.) What's the first thing you think when someone says, "Let's get down to business"?

*Sings* "...to defeat the Huns. Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons?" *Clears throat* I think of Mulan.

9.) What do you say when someone sneezes?

Don't sneeze too hard or your brain will explode!

10.) What's your favorite smell?

The ocean, definately!

11.) Why do you think girls find British boys more attractive than American boys?

Accent. 'Nuff said. I wonder if British girls are attracted to American boys (?).

And about the Mish-Mash post I had on my blog about two days ago: I removed it because of the fact that I wrote it in a hurry; when I write things in a hurry it usually turns out kind of mumble-jumbled, as was the case in that post. So.. yeah. It's gone. :)

Anywhoodles, farewell for now, my friends! Have a lovely day!

Sub-creation

I'm currently reading this amazing book written by Michael O'Brien entitled A Landscape With Dragons. In the beginning chapters, it talks about something that J. R. R. Tolkien called "sub-creation". Mr. O'Brien says that "By this he means that man, reflecting his divine Creator, is endowed with gifts to incarnate invisible realities in forms that make them understandable." I find this really interesting. When you read a book for the first time, you automatically envision the characters in one particular way. This happens through the way the characters would react to certain situations, interact with others in the story, and how they were portrayed by the author. Sometimes, our view of a character will change as the story progresses. For example, when first introduced to Brian Burke, one of the main charactors in the John Paul 2 High Series, I thought of him as a naive homeschooler (I'm homeschooled too, by the way, so don't think I'm attacking homeschooling. I'm just making a point.) who was oftentimes arrogant and treated girls with scorn. And sometimes this was true. But as the series continued, his behaviors changed in subtle ways that I often didn't notice until later on. Then I would think, "Hey, this guy isn't so bad after all." I think that's the sign of a good author; they have the ability to change people's perspectives. This is all part of our gift to sub-create.

Another part of sub-creation is our ability to relate our lives and world to those of fictional characters. I don't know about you guys, but I would give anything to be an elf. Some people may prefer to be a Narnian, or maybe a Jedi. The only people I know who are perfectly content as an inhabitant of earth are those who don't read fantasy. Just an observation. Something else Michael O'Brien says is "In fact it is the true realm of Faerie, a state of mind or being in which things become  ultimately 'more real', distinct, and focused into their true form."

Well, I hope you enjoyed my ramblings. I tend to do that. ;) So long!

Oh Yes, Very Funny, Precious!

This post just brightened up my day! Doesn't even matter that it's raining outside anymore. :P
